Minoru Higa Kobayashi Ryu.
The nephew of the legendary karateka Yuchoku Higa, an outstanding student of Choshin Chibana, Higa Sensei is the President of the Okinawa Prefectural Karate/Kobudo Renmei, and a retired insurance company executive. He is known for the physically demanding nature of his training, and his dynamic close fighting skills.

David Hooper Ph.D. Shotokan.
Dr. Hooper is a tenured professor at Tokyo’s prestigious Waseda University, and a lifelong Shotokan practitioner. During the forty years he has spent training in Tokyo at the Japan Karate Association, he has acquired a level of knowledge that is as remarkable as it is rare. A Classical Fighting Arts magazine contributing editor, David Hooper is considered a leading authority on JKA Shotokan karate.

Tatsuya Naka JKA Shotokan is one of the best known of the current generation of JKA Honbu Dojo instructors due to his appearance in the hugely successful karate movie Kuro Obi in which he played the character Taikan. A superb karate technician and a gifted teacher, Naka Sensei is by far the most popular teacher with the CFA members that we take to train at the JKA world headquarters dojo in Tokyo.

Zenpo Shimabukuro
(Shorin Ryu Seibukan) The President of the Okinawa Prefecture Karate Do Rengokai and successor to the Seibukan form of Shorin Ryu karate developed by his father from the teachings of his instructor, the legendary Chotoku Kyan (Chan Mi Gwa). Shimabukuro Sensei has strongly influenced Okinawan karate during his tenure, for example by helping to establish Karate Day as a public holiday.

Tsuyoshi Uechi’s technique is powerful, precise, and clearly the result of many years of arduous training. He is a kind and humble man who is meticulous in his teaching, and incredibly patient with the students fortunate enough to train with him. His hands are huge due to makiwara training, and his front kick something that is marveled at.
